You’re in love. Whether it’s young and fresh or old and enduring, it’s a must to celebrate it, and how fortunate you are to enjoy it.
So, we’d like to offer you some ideas on how to show your love. After all, it is February, and with Valentine’s Day coming up, it’s the month to stage an epic Romeo and Juliet.
This year, why not forget the usual Valentine’s fare, a night at a fancy restaurant, and rather stay home and spend a romantic night out by the pool? What’s more, in these tight economic times, and with social distancing thrown in, who needs a fillet mignon in a crowded restaurant?
Preparations need to be made. Plans need to be set. Fear not, we’re here to help with a few ideas on how to enjoy the most romantic of days by the pool.
But first…
Yes, no doubt your imagination is already running wild, but you have to make sure the groundwork is laid. And that means getting your pool ready for the occasion.
Clean it thoroughly and ensure the chemicals are within the right levels. Scoop out any leaves and debris. Check that the pump and filter are in tip-top shape. Do this a couple of days before Valentine’s. You want to give the water time to adjust and make sure you have time on hand for any unforeseeable.
Don’t just stop at the pool. Make sure its surroundings are clean and neat, and the garden is at its Sunday best. You don’t want to have the perfect pool decorations, only to be let down by untidy or dirty surroundings.
Decorations
Lucky for you, your pool (and your date) are already the centers of attention. So, you have less to think about, but it can look even more beautiful.
Candles
Flickering candlelight. Few things provide such a romantic atmosphere. So, hang some candles inside lanterns around the pool. You can also make use of floating candles.
Flowers
If you’re a traditionalist, Valentine’s is the day of red roses. You can sprinkle their petals around the pool, or even go all the way, and carpet the entire pool water surface! If roses aren’t your thing, no worries. There are white lilies to show your love is pure.
Towels and throws
Towels are for swimming. But go a little further this Valentine’s, and complement your towels with red throws on your outdoor sofa.
Lawn blanket
If you’re celebrating Valentine’s at night, what’s better than lying back on a blanket and gazing at the stars together. A lawn blanket is a perfect venue for a picnic.
Finger food
Speaking of food, prepare it beforehand. You don’t want to have to keep going inside for kitchen work. Ditch your delivery service and fancy dinner, and serve mostly desserts. Go for dark chocolate, brownies, cookies, and even cake. If you’re a little hungrier, make up a cheese and charcuterie board, add strawberries and grapes, and don’t forget the oysters. Voilà!
Music
Dig up the love songs that are the most special to you and you’re beloved.
Almost every couple has a song are two that are special to only them!
Sparkling wine
Put your favourite Champagne or Prosecco on ice. Remember a wine chiller to keep the temperature right and gather some fancy flutes for serving. Just don’t overdo the alcohol. You want to stay safe, and don’t get too tipsy that you slip and hurt yourselves.
That’s it, really. The perfect romantic setting, right there in your home. The most important item though, which you won’t find on this list, is your love.
And you’re hardly likely to forget that!
