Blue water pool? How can that be a problem? Well, it is, when you consider that a pool’s water should be colourless and crystal-clear.
Your pool could be suffering from one or more of these issues.
-
- The pH is too high. Water pH ranges from 1 to 14. Lower numbers are more acidic, and higher numbers are more alkaline. Make sure your pH is between 7.2 and 7.4. If your pH is too high, use a chemical additive like pH reducer, which includes muriatic acid or sodium bisulphate. If the pH level is way too high, you’ll need stronger chemicals, like sulphuric acid or hydrochloric acid. Be careful handing these though!
- There is too much stabiliser in your pool. Remember, there is no chemical on the market that you can add to your pool water to lower the stabilizer. In order to lower it, the pool needs to be diluted with fresh water.
- Your electrodes are dirty. Make a cleaning solution using one cup of acid added to 8 cups of pool water. Submerge the electrode into the solution until it’s clean.
- Remember: Don’t add water to acid. Always add acid to water.
