Clouds belong in the sky – not in your pool. Don’t worry though. Cloudy water is not a serious issue, and simple to fix.
It can be caused by many issues. An incorrect level of chlorine is the most common problem, but imbalanced pH and alkalinity, high calcium hardness levels, faulty or clogged filter, early stages of algae, ammonia, and debris can also be to blame.
That’s the science bit. More importantly though, is what practical steps can you take to get your pool back to its crystal-clear self?
-
- Make sure your chlorine levels are correct, neither too high nor too low.
- Shock your pool water. It’ll fix the cloudy water as well as kill bacteria before your pool succumbs to algae or ammonia.
- Backwash the filter or replace the filtering agent.
- Double-check you have the correct calcium hardness (CH) levels.
- Monitor and balance the pH and TA Levels
